Nokia-Iris Telecommunication has chosen Łódź
At the beginning of August 2017, Nokia - Iris Telecommunication Poland has begun operations in the Orion Business Tower office building, located at Sienkiewicza Street in the center of ŁódĽ, which has been chosen as the company’s headquarters. The company's scope of activity covers the design and construction of optical fiber networks under the Operational Program Polska Cyfrowa in thirteen central areas of Poland, implemented by Nokia in cooperation with the Infracapital fund.
Over the next year, the company is planning to employ about 250 people in ŁódĽ. The investor is mainly looking for specialists in project management, including construction, as well as professionals competent in the field of fiber optic network design and construction.
Walter Herz specialists believe that ŁódĽ is a market that has now accelerated its development. - Nokia is another global company that has recently chosen this location. Thanks to the increase of implementation pace of investments, in both commercial and residential markets, and high interest of world's largest companies in leasing space, ŁódĽ agglomeration is beginning to grow into one of the most important regional markets in the country. In the office segment, ŁódĽ is becoming a competition even for such locations as Wrocław or Cracow – informs Walter Herz.
The representative of NAI Estate Fellows company, which represented the owner of the Orion Business Tower office building during the transaction, confirms that Nokia appreciated the investment potential of the agglomeration. The investor was looking for office space situated in central ŁódĽ, the location of which would guarantee the best access both by car and by public transport. One of the most important advantages of the facility are the modern IT solutions and very swift adjustment of space to the need of the tenant, which among other things, determined the choice – admits NAI Estate Fellows expert. He also mentions that the facility has recently completed complex modernization of air conditioning and the common areas.
Nokia has been operating for 25 years in Poland, providing clients with the latest technology and professional services for mobile and fixed networks, including broadband access, public safety networks and railway systems, as well as health care products.
Nokia is the biggest investor in the ICT segment, and its Polish branch is one of the largest divisions in Europe, employing over 5400 professionals. The latest technologies and applications, such as LTE, 5G and Small Cells are being developed there. Most of the professionals - nearly 4000 people - are employed in R&D in centers operating in Wrocław, Bydgoszcz and Cracow, where the newest solutions for mobile telecommunication networks and for the public sector are being developed. Whereas, Global Service Centers, located in Warsaw and Bydgoszcz, serve clients worldwide.
